Dayton Fun Facts - Home of the First NFL Game

by David Campbell

Back with another Dayton Fun Fact. I bet you didn’t know that Dayton OH has a historic connection with the NFL.  Oct 3, 1920 The very first National Football League game was played. Where?  Right here in Dayton Ohio!  Dayton’s Triangle park was the place. Yes, on Embury Park Rd. near Island Metro Park in North Dayton. There was a 5000 seat stadium home to the Dayton Triangles and the first NFL game was against the Columbus Panhandlers.

A lot has changed in Triangle Park and the NFL since then but any Daytonian should be proud to know this is where history was made.   Oh, by the way the Dayton Triangles won 14 to nothing that day! Dayton, Ohio has a rich history and as an active Dayton Realtor I love to share our proud moments of the past and present  with others.
